Just watching England in the U20 World Cup and I have to say I am disappointed. They are playing some decent stuff like, trying to pass their way through but it is the players that disappoint me. There is a real lack of quality there, very much looks like a team focused on size, strength and pace, rather than quality.

There is a real lack of individual flair, similar to the Premier League to be honest, as the players seem a bit robotic. Lookman tries to stumble through, always on the verge of losing control of the ball when he tries to run with it. Ojo, on the other flank, just wants to use his pace to run at them.

The attitude is good, the players track back, mostly, but that lack of quality is really telling against a very weak Guinea side.

The Premier League youth academies have had a few years on the Elite Performance Plan now, do people feel it is working?

I have yet to see any sign it is the right way for the clubs to go.

It is good to see Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand getting involved with the England youth teams. Having players like them around is great inspiration for the kids in the team.

Am I the only one who thinks there needs to be an overhaul of the loan system? Maybe even scrap it altogether. So few players achieve their potential after going out on loan that it suggests it is not a workable system

Dayot Upemecano is being fought over by both Manchester sides and Arsenal apparently. Odd how PSG are not getting linked if the lad is so good and he is French.

I watched a bit of the England v USA game yesterday, it was awful. Just woeful. It was only a little better than the Women's World Cup, which is saying something.
